Factors associated with failed contraception in women attending level one hospitals in Lusaka, Zambia.

ABSTRACT
 Background: Unintended pregnancy is a major public health concern due to its impact on maternal morbidity and mortality. Contraceptive failure one of the causes unintended pregnancy. Data factors associated with contraceptive method scarce. This study therefore aimed determine proportions for various methods it.
 Methodology: Unmatched case-control was conducted at five Level One Hospitals in Lusaka. Convenience sampling used enrol 108 cases whom occurred while modern controls who were not pregnant. Binary multiple logistic regressions utilized assessment failed contraception.
 Results: Among cases, 46 (42.6%), 40 (37%), 17 (15.7%) 1 (0.9%) oral pill, injectable, implant intrauterine device contraception respectively 2 (1.9%) barrier emergency respectively. The odds when using pill more than 7 times (AOR 7.790, 95% CI 1.210-50.161, p=0.031). Those had 3 likely be younger 30 years old compared those whose did fail 3.559, 1.100-11.521, p=0.034 AOR 3.596, 1.354-9.550, p=0.010 age groups 18-24 24-30 old).
